I'm not even going to do the math on what this costs, because I'll cry.  32-year-old student has 11 advanced degrees and is working on five more.  The article appears in USA Today.

www.usatoday.com/news/education/2008-06-13-many-degrees_N.htm

The great news for parents of students with LDs is the student in question has severe dyslexia, so it does prove the kids can go far.

It's not clear if he's actually doing it for the Guinness Book of World Records, because apparently it's a classification they don't keep track of.  Which is great, because if my son chooses to be in the Guinness Book, he's going to have to win the lottery for this one.  :)

Absolutely not. I knew it had more potential, but the first thing I thought when I saw it was, oh the student loans! Hence the title. But you bit, so please feel free to let people hear about his message. But to answer your first thought, yep, perpetual student. :)

I commend his perseverance, but when I was in college, we used to joke about guys who became "perpetual students" and didn't want to grow up. I'm glad to hear the fellow is finally going to be "giving back" some of his knowledge when he takes on a teaching position this fall...It's quite a story.
Magnetmom, I hope you don't mind if I copy and repost it in the Learning and Disabilities Group...
