I am the BoxTop co-ordinator at my daughter's middle school. The first year the 800 students raised $125, last year we raised $102. For a school that for 6 years only had $1 holding open the account, I figure any money we made is a good thing. The money goes right into our PTA's general funds and we use it for all sorts of stuff.

Anyone else out there in GreatSchools use BT at their school?

Re: How about BoxTops?
Magnetmom,
Thank you for the welcome :)

I may average about 20 boxtops a semester. With the cost of everything going up and up, I can not afford to purchase many participating products myself :( I have been forced to by the generic brands of the same products trying to save a few cents. :(
With the recent job cuts and layoffs in our area, I am curious to see what the boxtops program will do this year at our schools...

Re: How about BoxTops?
Davis8,

That's phenomenal! I really wish I used enough of the products to do it. But I know families who involve the grandparents and neighbors (without kids), so it's definitely possible.

Welcome to GreatSchools.

Re: How about BoxTops?
We are a consolidated school between three towns. We have 3 schools total. Primary, intermediate, and middle. We hold 3 contests a year. The top 3 classes in each building will win a treat from the PTO, this could be as simple as an ice cream treat. The teacher's of the winning classes will recieve checks, in the amounts of 35.00. 25.00 and 15.00 for each place. The teacher can use this to purchase class room books or supplies.
These contests has really increased out collection of box tops. Last year we collected a little over 10,000 box tops!

Re: How about BoxTops?
I buy a lot of items that have the BoxTops coupon, and I usually send them in a few times a year. I figure, any money the school can receive, the better. Good luck with your fundraising.

Re: How about BoxTops?
Boxtops is a really great passive fundraiser. No one has to buy anything out of the ordinary. However, I'm not a real fan of most of the products that have the boxtops, and I can usually purchase another brand for much cheaper.

Our school raised $1186 with 440 kids, and another elementary school raises literally thousands with it.

While it's not our biggest fundraiser, it's another case of giving people a LOT of opportunities to help the school in many different ways. Glad they're doing so well at your school!
