Only 4 more to go.

With 46 states on board with the Common Core State Standards Initiative, there's a chance that soon standards will be similar enough that moving families will know that their children aren't ahead or behind before they get to their destination.

The USA Today article is here.

Other parents have lamented this issue on these boards numerous times, so I've provided this update.  Specifically, this iniative will prevent states from setting the bar so low that kids can be rated proficient when in fact they wouldn't be proficient in any other state.

Have you been affected by a move where the new school is very far ahead or way behind?

Re: Common State Standards Accepted by 46 States
I agree that having common standards is a step in the right direction. There are so many families moving around, primarily due to budget issues. This standard will greatly help families to get a better picture of where each states stands.

I, too, am curious as to the demographics of states that have not yet adopted these standards. Hopefully, these states won't delay in their acceptance of standards.

This is a "step in the right direction." The four states yet to sign up: Alaska, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas.
(I'm particularly curious why Texas, being the home of Bush, who started NCLB, isn't "on board" yet?)
