My daughter is being harassed at school on a daily basis about her weight.. She has missed alot of school due to this. I thought about online school. Does anybody have any experience with this?

If she's already missing a lot of school and getting depressed over this, you might as well homeschool her. As you mentioned, online school is now readily available and allow kids to focus a lot more on their studies and manage their own time. Of course, she needs friends, but you don't need school for that. Good luck.

I would recommend a structured homeschooling program. I homeschool my son through Abeka Academy which they send you all the books and material. There is a cost per year but they have great products and then they send you DVD's so your daughter can watch the video teacher on her DVD player. It is great! My son loves it and I love it too.

Re: Is homeschool right for my child?
I know online schooling has worked for some teenagers who are about to graduate who were struggling in school for various reasons. A good friend of mine has a Senior in HS who was about to drop out of school and get her GED because things were so bad at school. They decided instead that they would try the online schooling thing so she would actually have a HS Diploma and it's going well - they did a lot of searching and found one that was good.

I don't know how online schools are for younger students though. Please do a lot of research before you make your final decision so you can make a smart and informed choice.
