Many communities also boast multiple community theater programs.

Often, they can be associated with Chuches.  They may be run by the churches themselves, or they may just rent space from the Church for classes and access to the stage.

Other groups may be found in association with old downtown theaters.  Perhaps you could ask your librarian or contact the Theater Department Head at your local Community College.

These opportunities are great for boys as well as girls.  Even if your child isn't considering a career in the arts, performing can instill skills such as public speaking, confidence, memorization, and vocalization.

There are many behind-the-scenes activities as well.  Set and costume design, sound and lighting, direction and production, marketing and promotion, and much more.

Still not interested in taking part?  Consider being a spectator!  Our family attends tons of local theater productions and tickets range from absolutely free to a few bucks a person.  A great afternoon or evening of fun for less than the cost of a movie.
