My nephew goes to Fircrest elementary. He brought home a cup of strawberries that expired in 5-8-07.

Re: Expired food for kids!!!!!
I just read this thread and even though we are well into summer I thought I'd add my comment. My children have told me countless times that their milk tastes sour and is expired but for some reason I just thought they were exaggerating. They don't drink much milk at home but do eat other dairy so I don't worry. Now I realize they may have been telling the truth! Guess I should have investigated the lunchroom a few times to check things out. If this happens in the fall I will check it out promptly and bring it to the attention of the principal.

Re: Expired food for kids!!!!!
I filed a complaint, but the kids tell me the practice still continues and nothing has ever come of it because of course, there was none discovered when the principal invesitgated, but that could also be due to it being an announced visit to the lunch room.

I decided to stop using the school food program and send my own meals, but I'd like to get some conclusive proof that it's going on. No child should be expected to eat anything spoiled or outdated. I think an unannounced, spot-check would have been more effective...

Here, we're trying to rally the community to get more involed in the school PTA to address issues of this nature.

Did you file a complaint? That seems pretty bad!

My daughter goes to Hapeville Elementary in Georgia and she told me that the students no longer drink the milk offered because it's either outdated or curdled.
