I am trying to figure out what to do regarding school for my boys. Are your children in public or private? Which would you rather they be in given the chance to do it again?

I want the best for them and if that means putting them in a private school, I would need to work full-time and not be involved in their school like I am now.

Are there any pros/cons that I should think about before making a decision?

Thanks!

I'm not a parent. I'm actually a student at a private school. I've also been to public school for one year, and I think you'd be much more satisfied if your boys were in a private school. The academics, the enviroment, and the whole student body is exceptionally better than a public schools'.

That is a wise decision. You have more value to your children than you could possibly fathom. If you instill a love of learning in them, they will always be OK in life, even if you are not by their side. You can't buy that. You have to actually be there and demonstrate it because loving to learn is a lifestyle. Best of luck!

SeaJenni, that's pretty much what I've been thinking. Especially today when my kind. went to school for his first full day today to see what next year will be like. Longest I've been away from both kids since my oldest was born pretty much.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and comments. I think I'll go with public for now and just do additional things with them instead.

If I could do it all over again, I would spend the time with my children, not the money on the private schools.

THE most important thing you can do for your children is read with them, have them read to you for twenty minutes every night until they are well on they way to fluency - fourth grade - and have them continue to read every night for twenty minutes to an hour. Make regular trips to the library and guide them to classics. Check their homework and help them, do their times tables the summer of second grade and have them master them. No matter where your children attend school, helping and teaching them at home will aid them in excelling in school.
Working full time to pay a tuition bill and expecting someone else to do this job for you will only leave you sadly disappointed, tired and frustrated.
