I'm a little confused. School started last week. Are you starting your son now, or are you starting him next September?

You will have options for next year, some of which start in December (magnet) and then in the spring (charter and open enrollment).

hello magnetmom i found out my home school, and it is Hart School. I guess my son has to go here for now but, i checked and there not even on the top ten list for elementary schools, and they had negative comments from parents of kids who went there. what should i do.

Thank you so much I have no idea what y home school is or anything like that, no pernits or anything.We just moved here and my son just turned five Sept,5 so I need all the advice I can get. I will join LAUSD parent group so that I may be informed a little bit better.

Hi emauni, and welcome to GreatSchools Parent Community. Like you, I live in LAUSD's district, albeit in a different part of the Valley. Be aware that your are zoned for a particular school based on your address. From there, there are programs including open enrollment and child care permits that will allow you to look at other schools you're not originally zoned for.

What is your neighborhood school? And have you already contacted the other schools you're interested in about the possibility of open enrollment seats or child care permits?
