Hi everyone I am new here. I have a 4 yr old boy who is getting ready to start Kindergarten in August.  I am basically a single mom, my husband is only home on weekends, and a full time student working towards my degree in education.

Re: New Here
Well we just attended the orientation meeting for his kindergarten and sure enough my suspicions were right. He is too advanced LOL. They are wanting to put him into a K-1 combo class. I am unsure how I feel about this though.

Basically he can do lots of first grade work, addition, subtraction, counting to well over 100 and really is only kindergarten level in his reading and writing. I am thinking I will just decline the K-1 combo class and put him in a regular classroom.

Hello! I have a 5 year old that starts Kindergarten in August also. My nerves are crazy right now worrying about her going to school.

Have you tried looking for schools using our "Research and Compare" tool? It's in the green toolbar above. Here's the link to our city page for Pasadena, Ca. It might be a good jumping off point for you.
