I was wondering if anyone has any information on the Career Tech group? My daughter is maintaining a 3.9 GPA in good standing with the IB program and has aced every AP class out there and these clowns suggested to us that she might want to be a "bank teller" ? My daughter responded "maybe while I am in college as a part time job."

Re: RE: Oklahoma students
This sounds like one of those computer match systems where certain keywords will create ridiculous and unlikely results. For example - she probably got bank teller because she is good at math and works well with people.
It is really sad but I just ran into the same thing with the Missouri career search website - I have an advanced degree but because of a couple of keywords it was matching me to jobs such as a server in a casino. Needless to say, I am taking other avenues to try to find a new job.

It might be worth contacting your state's licensing bureau or even a local representative's office, to see if they can find out if the group is properly registered to be advertising/doing business in the state. Maybe the Oklahoma Attorney General's office would be interested in following up, if they're doing some kind of misleading advertising....

I have never heard of them either. The back of the brochures that they hand out list Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education which "sounds" very official until you go their website. Once your at their website they "imply" they are with the state but they make sure they don't actually say it. Other than their website I cannot find any information on them.

I've never heard of the group you mentioned ~ do they put out some sort of "career interest survey?" I hope you didn't have to pay for their advice, but I love your daughter's practical response!
