Finding a good Middle School

I am moving to Dallas Texas in August and I am in need of a good middle school for my daughter.

As a middle school teacher for over 2o years, I agree with making a check list of your chil'd needs and what Your family is looking for in a school. I also recommend that you visit the school to get the true feel of the environment. I know it is summer and it is a hard time to visit but do it anyway. ASK QUESTIONS! That is my best advice. Don't be afraid to question anything!

Our family recently moved from North Dallas area back to MD. You should definitely prepare a school checklist of priority items you are looking for in a school. Our daughter attended a school in the Plano Independent School District (PISD) called Schimelpfenig Middle School and she enjoyed it! My husband and I liked it for her too. DISD (Dallas Independent School District) has many problems, e.g. financial, political etc., so do your research and interview the school administrative staff, students and parents. Lots to choose from in the Big D!

3. Have you done any preliminary research on the schools?

5. Does your daughter thrive in smaller groups or larger ones?
6. How involved have you been as a parent at your daugther's school?
7. What level of participation would you like to have at the middle school she attends?
8. When will you have an opportunity to visit Dallas to schedule tours at the middle schools?
