Re: study tips
quiet space with no distractions (tv, music, etc) usually works for me. also a clear desk (no clutter) and focus on one thing at a time...i write a "to do" list and that often helps me stay organized. p.s....don't forget to keep lots of sharpened pencils, erasers, something to drink and especially your dictionary and thesaurus...have fun and good luck with school!! tinamarie

Re: study tips
Hi dawson,

My suggestions would be :

Provide a structured environment to make home study easier for her. Work with her to set up a regular time and a specific quiet place for her to study.

Answer her questions and ask about the material she is studying, but do not do her homework for her.

Encourage her to bring home class notes as part of her preparation for learning at home.

Listen, read, and talk with your child about school work. Just showing interest will help improve her grades!

When she completes her homework, ask her to talk about what she has done or learned. This helps you know what she is learning and alerts you to problems she may be having.

I know you might not want to hear this, but turn off the T.V. and the music -- try it for a week and see if it helps. You will probably find that it does. Find out if your school district offers a homework club or homework hotline -- maybe you can get help that way.

Make sure you have everything need around you. Sharp pencils, highlighters, water, a snack and carve out a set amount of time you plan to work on each subject and don't forget to take breaks. Get fresh air, take a short walk...refresh and then sit back down. Give yourself mini goals so you don't get overwhelmed.
