We only have 3 parents on our entire elementary PTO.  I'd like to raise money for our school, have fun parties for the kids, meet new parents.  Does anyone have any ideas to make our PTO grow?

Re: How can I get parents involved in our PTO at school?
We (as a PTO) have found that money does talk at our school. We've set dues low so that any could afford to join. Then we have prizes at monthly meetings for volunteers and teachers. We offer carnivals and spiritwear and everything in between throughout the year. And with the money we make, we give it back to the families and school. Just last month we had a family night with almost 200 in attendance! Last year that number would have been 20.
I think it's important to keep communication open and always be a friendly face that parents come to depend on. Once you get your foot in the door, things will start looking up!

I think the most important thing to do is educate the parents of what the PTO is and what it does. Most parents have two incomes to support thier household, The parents are just too busy (so they think). Every parent wants the best for their child, Educate them and keep asking for their support.

The English Valleys PTO has a new website, evpto.com. Check it out to see what's new with the PTO.
