If you see that your child has difficulties with exceeding according to there age get help for them in an early intervention program immediately. That is the only way you are truly going to get the right services that you need for your child in the public school systems, from pre-school to graduation.

Early intervention starts from birth to 3 years to the day, after that public schools take over. You will have a really hard time getting your child services that they need. That is what I have experienced. Programs such as: speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, reading, comprehension, focusing in classroom, help with learning disabilities, ADD or ADHD, and most of all a paraprofessional which according to your circumstances is a 1 to 1, 1 to 2, 1 to 3 ratio, which means, paraprofessional works with the one child alone with the teacher or a one to 2 where the paraprofessional works with 1 other children along with your child. And so forth. They work in conjunction with the teacher. which is a specialist that is working with your child along with the teacher.    Most insurance will cover early intervention or state help with the cost along with a sliding scale according to your income. It is usually very inexpensive. There is so much help out there that a lot of parents are not informed of when it comes to help for your child or children. Usually you will have to talk to your pediatricians and let them know the difficulty that your child is having and you would like to have some help with that and they will work with you. If they don't, find a new pediatrician. You have to get help before your child is three. That is imperative. find a good Nero-physiologist to test your child. ask around and find out who is great in your area, they will let you know what your child really needs to excel in school. Another alternative is check your local State colleges and find out if they have any special programs where they study your child to see if there are any challenges they may have. There is always a professional there to guide the students. And they usually are advanced students in there studies. They also check for autism and global delays. They are very thorough in what they do. They will continue to check on your Childs progress.

Re: SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
Early Intervention is best. Research supports better outcomes for children who have received early intervention services. Dont be surprised though if the services change drastically once they are in public schools.

Re: SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
No, Early intervention is better all around. Any parent that has ever had their child in Early intervention will tell you it is the best thing they have ever done and glad they did. There are a wealth of programs that your child can get help with. Also, your child has the privilege to go to pre-school and the school system pay’s instead of you trying to figure out some way to get the help you need
Financially and emotionally for your child now, and when they turn three. They are able to get advanced training in school so they can be ready for pre-school, kindergarten and 1st grade. So seriously think about your decision. NO early intervention, then you will have a very hard time getting your child into any kind of programs without fighting with the school system. You still have to fight with them but not as hard because you have had the proof all along. Always remember you have to control of the school system not them of your child. They work for you and your child. So let them work it out and tell them in a respectful way this is what you want and there is no room for discussions unless they have already have another plan that is better. And you want to hear it and don’t give them a decision right there and then. Let them know you are taking home the info. And discussing it with the family. Then look up all your information on it and then make your decision if it is ok or not for your child. Also early intervention will work with you in deciding what doctors your child needs and also help you to work with your own pediatrician in what questions to ask the doctor. and what to ask for. Especially if you have to get a referral first from your doctor to see a specialist. Don't forget you are your Childs advocate NO ONE ELSE. Always remember if you do not feel comfortable with a certain person on the early intervention team let them know and they will change the person for you. Don’t worry what they might think. Think about how this person is going to help my child. Everyone has a different personality and not everyone gets along, so just watch and listen very carefully on what is happening so you can become the pro of your own child. Practice makes perfect they say. Do what you need now and it will pay off in the long run. I hope this has helped you.
