My daughter and I have just discovered a GREAT way to improve her education (math, reading, writing, geography), all while having fun!

We've begun Geocaching. (See geocaching.com).  It cost me about $90.00 for her handheld GPS system (walmart.com - Garmen E-Trex H) and she has so much fun.

I created an account online for her where she has to read to navigate, and then she "logs in" her finds (which requires spelling).

Geocaching is treasure hunting, and you would be amazed at the amount of treasures around your house!  Currently there are about 1900 around our house.

I help Hannah enter the coordinates (as well as solve the puzzles for the more complicated ones) and then the GPS helps you get there.

Hannah has to read her coordinates, follow the arrows, then she has to look for the hidden cache.  Once found ~ theres a treasure!

This has really helped Hannah build her self esteem AND as a lot of kids struggle in math with those problem solving questions - this has helped that as well.  Its taught Hannah how to look at things from different ways rather than just one set way and resulting in "I dont get it".

Its great exercise, the kids get to collect  little trinkets and some have coins that you can track online which are really neat for Hannah as she can log in and see where its been, how far its traveled, etc. and I can work math into it without her realizing it.

I highly recommend this to parents with ADHD/ADD children.  This will keep them focused, you'll bond and have a great time, and you'd be amazed at how much of an educational boost it can really be!

We have also enjoyed this geocaching. It is educational fun family time. Excellent suggestion.
