need desperately for good elementary school for my daughter

My daughter has been denied for all the applications we filed for the magnet schools, total of 7 . We are desperate. We thought we will be picked for at least one, but supposely the lottery based system didn't pick our daughter.

We are so frustrated by the system and we don't have any other resources. Our neigborhood school is horrible.

We are looking for a private school, not too expensive, located in the south loop or hyde park area, or in chicago central area with a good curriculum, with diverse student. So far all the schools I found closed their list for 2009-2010.

Does anybody can advice us on a great school still taking applications? It coud be catholic, lutherian, or just private as far as the teachers, the school and the students have a good reputation.

Searching the internet is a really good tool. Also, visiting and taking part in your daughters school can truly help improve the negative vibe that you currently feel.

Don't allow yourself to become further frustrated. Find a way to get involved at your daughter's school. Make your self more visible. Join your daughter for lunch now and then. Send her teachers a very short note, telling them how much you appreciate them--then, ask how you can help your daughter. Donate some time to assist the teacher(s) with grading papers, or creating new classroom centers; give time to your school's media center or the dreaded cafeteria (smile). If you are "nervous"...ask other volunteers to join you, and go to school together on the same day. You work for a business-- then explain how important it is that you make the needed sacrifice (time away from job) to improve your daughter's school! You can do it!!!
