We recently pulled our son out of public school due to classroom sizes, lack of supervision, and absolutely no one on one teacher time. We felt bad for dropping him off and leaving him there, knowing we live in a bad school system. Instead of setting back and becoming new victims to the public school system, we decided to start home schooling, at first we thought home schooling sounded generic, and was nothing more than mail correspondence, boy, was we wrong. We entered the Ohio Virtual Academy that partners with k12.com. not only did they send us all the text books and learning supplies for the year, they also sent our son a new computer to do the work on line. If you have been looking for an alternative to bad public schooling, we recommend k12.com, and the best thing is..... ITS FREE!!

Re: Home Schooling
Hi, im a user of K12/OHVA (Ohio Virtual Academy), yes K12 and its schools are charter public schools but they use the K12 way of teaching and they only give your child what they know because they think the one size fits all method does not work. They give your child there materials based on a pretest during enrollment and as the progress they move them up to there grade level (some kids actually bypass their grade level after the second year of K12). K12 also has a school called independence which is a private school and the material are not free. K12/OHVA has is actually one of the nations most largest and highest rated public elementary schools and one of the nations most larges highest rated high school with 98.6% of all their student graduating with 96.5% of them being accepted to four year universities.

Re: Home Schooling
The thing to remember about this program though is that it's a public school only it's online. So if you want something different than what a public school offers then this probably isn't the best program out there for you. On the other hand if that is what you are looking for it's good to look into.
