My Knowledge was...
My Knowledge was hands on experience, It didn't come from a book.

Growing up I learned so much from my mom.  She was wonderful with children, she was funny, patient and most of all loving.  When I watch I Love Lucy, wow the show reminds me of my moms personality.  My mom is with me in my heart, talk to her everyday.  October 10th, 1926-2004.  She taught me, that you won't always get answers from a book....How very true......

When I lived in another state, I worked for a special needs school.  I will never forget the day a group of college students came in to our classroom to observe.

Before they left one of the students said; "You don't get this kind of education from a book, it doesn't cover what we have experienced here today."  Thank you for letting us come and observe, it was quite an awakening."

I loved working with special needs children.  All children in the school system.  All situations are different, and books don't tell you the answers, some of it genuinely comes from your heart.  A child knows it when your being helpful.  I had many experiences to look back on, and every stage and place in my life I took those with me.  Call it what you will.  I didn't need a degree to be the type of person I am today.  I was told long ago I have the patience of a saint...Not a saint by any means..Just Love and Joy in my heart.  I didn't call it work, I called it "Can't wait to go to school tomorrow!  :)

I remembered what my mom said.

I just love to hear stories like that one, experience is knowledge. I remember my grandmother telling me things either about marriage or kids and now I look back and think yeah she was right.

Re: Knowledge doesn't always come out of a book, what was the most important that you learned not in a book?
Was it from your grand parents, mom or dad? I am sure you have heartwarming stories to tell.

Let me know what you learned in life that you didn't get from reading a book and what that knowledge meant to you. I love books, I went to college, I loved the hands on experience. I'd like to hear from more of you. Thanks :)
