Dyslexia experts at national IDA conference in Seattle Oct. 29-Nov. 1
We parents in this room are always asking for, and sharing, reliable information on the science of dyslexia and how to help our children. Many of the world's leading dyslexia experts will soon be gathered together in one place, to present at the annual conference of the non-profit International Dyslexia Association, Oct. 29th to Nov. 1st, in Seattle, WA. Many of the presenters are intended for parents on such topics as understanding what dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia are (and are not); current research; interventions; special education law; working with schools; etc. Presenters include Dr. Joseph Torgesen, recently-retired director of the Florida Center for Reading Research a; the legendary Dr. Reid Lyon, former head of the NICHD Child Development and Behavior Branch; Dr. Louisa Moats, co-author of "Parenting a Struggling Reader" and "Straight Talk about Reading;" Emerson Dickman, J.D., special education attorney and current president of the IDA; and many others.
