At our schools before and child can join a sport. They have to watch a what happens when drinking and driving video. I had to sad opportunity to give my 13 yr old daughter the best lesson. This past month I attened the services of a friend who was killed in a drinking and driving accident . He was on his motorcycle and was hit head on, by a drunk teen boy. I took my daughter to a pack open casket service. I let her see the damage it causes family and friends to loss someone. Then informed her that the teen who hit my friend will not be charged with anything his grandfather is a judge in that county. I say my daughter crying , I asked her why she was and her reply was "Those childeren will grow up without a father". I hope was able to make her see what a video cannot.

Re: Drinking and driving will they ever get it?
I really hope on day that they would get it. It's a horrible tradegy to experience, see, or hear of, accidents caused by something that could have and should of been prevented. I hope and pray to never experience this tragedy myself, or for loved ones or anyone for that matter go through it. I don't drive much because it is a huge problem here where I live, here in Florida. Truthfully I wish alcohol was band altogether because of it's improper use and is used irrisponsibly. And especially the fact that minors are able to access it easily. It's unhealthy and it kills and harms , not only the ones drinking it but also the innocent people (victims) and effects their loved ones, whether their hurt in accidents or it becomes a fatality. Just because of drinking and driving. It's sad to know how irrisponsible people can be just from drinking. It's really sad to know that alot of them who did drink and drive and caused these accidents and survived still continue to do so and haven't learned from it.( even if they do jail time) They should teach kids in schools more about this and show videos of the consequences in every school (high school and colleges) and have them take a fieldtrip to the morgue. To some that may seem to harsh ( take a trip to the morgue) but sometimes if they witness it in reality it might wake alot more people up and make them realize how serious this really is. I'm not saying it'll have an effect on every student but I'm sure it will convince some. May prevent one or more from drinking and driving. And that's a few less on the streets drinking and driving and hopefully we'll start seeing a decline in this horrific problem that we're having. Does anyone agree?

sounds like to me your the parent his the child(wears my belt) some people don't believe in wiping and that's why there child is always missing behaving and causing trouble. there is a line of spanking and beating. to me what i would do if i had to pick up my child because he was drinking first thing i would do pick him up don't say nothen take him to the police station and let him stay a night in the drunk tank then ground him from his friends for 3 months with no tv no games no nothen send him to AAA weekends so he can learn that drinking kills or cause serous trouble and send him to summer school let him know your the boss you say what goes and if he still continues to miss behave even though you don't want to do it send him to rehab. no one should be drinking specially kids.

Most kids don't get it. But you did great by having a hands on influence on future decisions. I have not had the opportunity to do this with my son, and god willing I won't have to. We have an agreement, first off that he is not allowed to drink (not that it will necessarily hold, I am not naive) but further that if he finds himself in a situation that he has had even one drink, he will call, I will pick him up and we will not have any consequences aside from him agreeing to discuss why he did it.
