There are many scholarships out there for children to have the opportunity to attend private schools- such as Ace located in Denver, Colorado. My daughter had a 4 year scholarship that ended recently (which gave me the perfect amount of time to relocate to a better school district. There are many programs available that will benefit our toddlers entering school (I started filling out these applications when she was 3).

Re: Scholarships elementary...
Hi. I will be moving to Staten Island next June 2010. Any of you could recommend the best public and private school in that city? Which would be the better areas in the island to live :) I will be looking for a good public school (if there is any) for my son who will be starting 1st grade next year.
Thank you for the information anyone could give me.

tobbyandlui:

Let me suggest you start a new discussion, or ask advice, in the High School Parents group: community.greatschools.net/groups/11529.

You'll get more attention and possible suggestions that way.

Also, if you're looking for information regarding college, you can post questions in the College & Beyond group: community.greatschools.net/groups/11551.

Good luck.

Re: Scholarships elementary...
tobbyandlui, if your daughter is a teen, are you seeking scholarship information for elementary school (through 8th grade), or are you looking for high school or college scholarship info?

Re: Scholarships elementary...
Well in my experience the Ace Scholarship let me choose the school(s) she went to and they paid for 1/2 of all tuition the school then gave me discounts for volunteering also- there is also the Challenge foundation which I have started submitting applications for - there are other things like Seeds of Hope and local help- any of the private schools in your community/state should offer thier inner program applications and the names of these programs that they work with for you to apply independently. You just have to know to ask- (all schools have diffrent people they work with) I Will make a list of the ones I know- I live in Colorado.

Re: Scholarships elementary...
Do you have links to any other scholarships for younger students? It's been my experience that some states have vouchers, and some individual private schools may offer have tuition reduction to qualified students who have financial need, but there aren't many scholarships that allow students flexibility to go wherever they want.
For those parents who are able, another way to reduce a private tuition cost may be by working at the school or volunteering.
