We have a schedule for the summer posted on the refrigerator.  There is one for sunny days and one for rainy days.  We start out with Hebrew for a half hour because my son is getting ready for his Bar Mitzvah.  It's helpful to get the hardest part for him out of the way first thing.  He helped make the schedules so he's been more willing to stick to them because of that.  For reading, we went to the library and found a great book series: Among the Hidden by Margaret Haddix that he's enjoying.  Without the schedule, he would spend all his time playing videogames and watching TV.

Our schedules look like this:

Sunny Days

8:00 Wake up Mom

8:10 Breakfast

8:30 Hebrew

9:00 Guitar practice

9:25 Biking

10:00 Reading

10:30 Free time

11:30 Lunch

12-2 Camp program

2:10 Frisbee

2:30 Free time

3:30 Drawing

4:00 Swimming

Rainy Days

8:00 Wake up Mom

8:10 Breakfast

8:30 Hebrew

9:00 Drawing

9:45 Guitar

10:10 Reading

10:40 Free time

11:30 Lunch

12-2 Camp program

2:10 Free time

4:00 Swimming

Hope this is helpful to someone!

Re: Summer Learning
What a great way to keep a child on track during the summer. Great advice and good luck!
