Painting Spirit Pony

Keep kids physically and mentally active and they continue to grow and thrive. Florida for Sun and Morgans for Fun.

I keep my 5 year old active with our summer horse camp activities which include riding, horse education, field trips, play, and arts & crafts. We also invite Grandma over to swim and play. Our summer school activity books and Kumon studies are fun and off schedule, but still get done happily.  At bedtime, I read a chapter of one of the Black Stallion series books.

Interaction with people of all ages throughout the summer (and year) in a less regimented schedule encourages a great exchange of ideas and new opportunities for learning.  Playing in the sun, with plenty of sunscreen, burns off excess energy while releasing endorphins that make us all feel good. When we feel good, we sleep better, wake more refreshed, and can learn more easily.

I wish I had a whole summer vacation again... or at least and extra nap.

Re: Summer Smarts
Good ideas! Summer is a great time to learn actively, and reading to the kids at night makes sure that reading always stays an important part of their lives.
