Do you have a child that likes to move?  Try Grasshopper Math!  You can play this one outside on a sunny day or take it inside if it's raining!  All you need is a pen, index cards (or paper), and a hopping, jumping kid.

On each card write one number from 0-15.  Spread them out all over the floor or ground.

Begin giving directions such as, "Be a grasshopper and hop to the number 7!"

"Now see if you can hop to the one that is one less than seven."

"Skip to the number that is one more than 12."

"Twirl to the 15"

"now count back from the 15 hopping to each number as you go!"

Your child will love the activity and will also love to shout the orders and check your hopping abilities!!!  It is also fun to take turns and hop together!

This game could also be adapted for older kids too.  Use more or bigger numbers, say 50-100, or even try some harder math problems.  "Can you hop to the number 17-4?"

Either way it's a jumping good time!

Love this Idea and will have to try it. It sounds like so much fun I'm going to try it with my ADHD 8 yo. son tonight. Thanks

Very fun idea, I think I'll do it with sidewalk chalk! I am a high school math teacher and small fun games like this can get any kid involved and learning!
