Top 10 list - Basically Free

Have your child recommend activities for each day of the week from a select list. Have your child determine when these activities should occur over the course of each week. Keep tabs of completed activities on a calandar. Repitition is very powerful.

1) Water activities during hot days - (Beach, backyard pool, park pool, friends pool, hose etc.)

2) Reading and internet activities about upcoming vacations or trips to different places

3) Specific family activities (walk, bike ride, movies, drive etc.)

4) Library time (find books of interests, look at pictures of interesting things etc.)

5) Take child to work once a month day. Even if its just during lunch time.

6) Create a summertime goal (i.e., save/earn a certain amount, walk/bike ridea certain distance, number of times to see grandparents or special relatives as appropriate etc.)

7) Museum time at the Getty, Griffith Park, LaBrea Tar Pits etc.. I don't recommend the LA Museum on Wilshire blvd. nice building but always display very creepy, scary and inappropriate images for kids

8) Slowly work to complete a major house hold chore (backyard weeds, reconfigure bedroom or kitchen, clean garage, paint a room etc.)

9. Wash the car every weekend at home.

10. Write a letter and include a picture to someone different each week. The recipient will truly appreciate the thought.
